Building (and maintaining) a Healthy Team

Phil Williams

Being in groups is part of everyday life and many of us will belong to a wide range of groups, however, a team is a group of people who share a common team purpose and a number of challenging goals. Members of the team are mutually committed to the goals and to each other. A healthy team is one in which team members feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions, sharing ideas and trusting others. Team members will feel valued, respected and safe. We will explore how to build and maintain healthy teams in this workshop.

Phil Williams has served on the staff of West since 2016 and is the Director of Ministry Operations. He also serves on the Senior Leadership Team and has taught leadership workshops for over 25 years.

How God Talks to You *

Shirley Paz

Communicating with God is a vital aspect of the Christian faith, but while speaking to God may be fairly simple, hearing him is often difficult. Not because God is unwilling or unable to communicate with us, but because we have so many questions about whether what we're hearing is really him or our own thoughts and interpretations. And what about conflicting ideas? Or making decisions? Or people who seem to be so sure about God's voice? Or what if we don't hear anything at all? This seminar will examine the reality of our conversational relationship with God and provide guidance for the way he desires to talk with you.

Shirley Paz has served on the pastoral staff of West since 2007 and is presently the Director of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. She also serves on the Senior Leadership Team and chairs the Leadership Development Team.

Changing Things

Danielle Strickland, 2019 Global Leadership Summit speaker

“If we want to be leaders of influence that really bring change to the world, we don’t need to just move things around. We need to find the right things to change,” said author and pastor Danielle Strickland. She emphasizes two primary points for leaders who want to bring about transformational change. First, leaders must focus on making the correct changes. Secondly, said Strickland, “It’s not enough to know what to change. You have to embrace the process to change it.” And that process is always messy.

Danielle Strickland is currently based in Toronto, Canada. Her aggressive compassion has served people firsthand in countries all over the world. From establishing Justice Departments for The Salvation Army to launching Global anti-trafficking initiatives, to creating new movements to mobilize people towards transformational living. Danielle trains, advocates, and inspires people to live differently. Danielle is a mom of 3, wife to @stephencourt and has been affectionately called the “ambassador of fun.”
